With initial fundraising for Enterprise Gaming, Europe’s top-ranked Fortnite team, complete, Chowning Group plants its flag in community-first, online, and competitive e-sports.
Though young, the Enterprise boasts an exceptionally impressive seven-person European roster for Fortnite, Epic Games’ multi-billion-dollar behemoth, and is actively expanding into the North American scene with the addition of four North American players in the coming weeks.
“We couldn’t be happier with our positioning here,” says Robert Maxwell, founder of Chowning Group. “The focus for us isn’t only to compete and win at the highest level, but also to provide a platform for everyone with an interest in gaming to have a community and a home. Without the latter, we’re a machine; with it, we’re a movement.”
As part of the transaction, the Enterprise will retain Harry “Darz” Darwin, top-rated Fortnite coach, as the Fortnite team manager. Darwin will be responsible for leading the team’s scouting and talent acquisition efforts. Chowning’s Robert Maxwell will act as CEO while the team identifies a seasoned gaming executive for the top role.
Proceeds from the fund raise will primarily service capital expenditures related to the team’s proprietary content generation and management infrastructure, substantial roster expansion, and overhead coverage for 24 months. The team remains open to strategic brand partnership opportunities, although a moratorium on all non-financing-related transactions is in effect until June 30th.
